SWAP MEET - St. Louis, MO

Wits first semi-annual Electronics and Computer Giveaway, SWAP MEET and Super sale held August 13, 14 and 15 was a resounding success. Cars lined the street as hundreds of residents and a few businesses from Missouri and Illinois came down to WITS this weekend to get free stuff, swap old for new or get complete refurbished newer computers for $40. From stereos to DVD players, computer parts, software and household items, all items were FREE. Some sale items and swap items included digital cameras, LCD monitors, lawn mowers and even an old Coleco Game set that still worked.

All of the items of the giveaway and swap were donated to Wits for recycling. Over 10,000 items were given away and seveveral hundred items were brought to be swapped out for newer stuff. Local charities were also invited to come and take items they needed. After the Wits robbery a few weeks ago, this was a perfect way to let the thieves know that our community programs won't be stopped.

The event ran from Friday through Sunday and was such a success that Wits will be hosting this event twice a year.

Rather than recycling the items we decided to take our "reuse" program to a different level by hosting this giveaway. In this economy this was the least we could do.
